Buy Your Season's Pass »The new Sunday River Outdoor Center is a great complement to your Alpine adventures. Many kilometers of cross-country and snowshoeing trails wind through the woods around Newry—with easier terrain closest to the Outdoor Center’s main facility. Whether you find your happy place by skiing with friends to one of Outdoor Center Trail Conditions »several trailside picnic sites or by going for miles without seeing another soul, the Sunday River Outdoor Center offers an easy and convenient way to keep exploring this area’s winter wonderland.

Sunday River’s state-of-the-art grooming equipment and dedicated staff provide consistent and comfortable trails for both traditional classic and skate skiers alike. Trails take skiers up to such popular destinations as the famous and picturesque covered bridge, built in 1872 and reportedly the most painted bridge in Maine. And, of course, the Sunday River Outdoor Center offers much more challenging trails for the more experienced Nordic skier and snowshoe enthusiast—some leading up Barker Mountain for panoramic views of the surrounding Sunday River Valley.

Whether you bring your own equipment or rent new Rossignol skis or TSL snowshoes from our knowledgeable staff, we’ll have you out on the trails in no time. If you’re new to the sport, you can get some pointers from our friendly crew, practice on the small hill just outside the rental area—perfect for taking pictures and laughing with friends—or take a lesson from experts in the field.

At the end of your day’s adventure, warm up with a cup of cocoa or hot soup from the on-site café and settle into the luxurious couches by the fireplace. Our lodge is equipped with free Wi-Fi access. On sunny days, the Adirondack chairs on the deck provide the perfect resting spot for people-watching as skiers glide in from the trails or make for a perfect casual après-ski spot to relax with friends.
